Record Year for Peugeot in Australia

PeugeotAUSTRALIA, 9 January 2008 - Peugeot Automobiles Australia has recorded its best ever yearly result, with 8,807 new Peugeots sold in 2007.

The record result reflects an increase of 8.6% compared to 2006, and eclipsed the previous record of 8,107 achieved last year. With products competing only in the passenger car segment, Peugeot’s 8.6% growth was ahead of the segment’s rise of 6.5%.

Sales were strong across the entire Peugeot range, which was bolstered in 2007 with the arrival of the all new 207. Adding to the hatch range throughout the year were the 207 GTi, the 207CC and the 207 Touring, allowing the 207 variants to account for 25% of the sales mix.

The star of the line up was the 307, with the stylish model racking up 4,493 sales, comprising 51% of the brand’s total sales. Interestingly, diesel models contributed almost three quarters of all 307 sales.

52.4% of all Peugeot’s sold in 2007 were diesel powered, highlighting the increasing popularity of diesel motoring with Australian new car buyers. With particulate filters fitted as standard to all Peugeot HDi models, combined with low levels of C02 emissions, Peugeot diesel buyers can be assured that they are making an environmentally friendly choice of vehicle.

Rob Dommerson, Managing Director of Peugeot Automobiles Australia is very proud of the result, which he says has been achieved by the combination of an excellent product range and a strong and vibrant Dealer Network.

“The record result is very pleasing, and I would like to congratulate Peugeot Dealers for an outstanding result. With a dynamic and comprehensive model range that offers style, safety and excellent value for money, more and more customers are considering the Peugeot brand”.

Peugeot Dealers around Australia have been transformed in the last few years, with facility upgrades to 100% of the network to meet Peugeot’s ‘Blue Box” global visual identity program.

“To cater for our growth, Peugeot Dealers nationally have invested in their facilities to ensure that they are able to deliver excellent service to a growing customer base, and are now really beginning to see the return of their investment. I am confident that based on this record sales result, Peugeot will go from strength to strength in the market place”.

2008 is also shaping up to be a great year for the Peugeot brand, with the launch of the all new 308 in mid-February.
